As seen in the Woodbury Connector: by Amy Davis
You rarely hear about the dental revolution, but at Aurora Dentistry Dr. Erik Davis is pursuing a fresh approach that uses the latest technology to preserve the strength, appearance, and function of his patient’s teeth. Dr. Erik knows that with this approach, he can often eliminate the risk of a patient needing invasive treatments in even the most troublesome tooth. It is this preservation of the vitality of the original tooth that saves patients time and money, both now and for decades to come.
Aurora Dentistry was established in 1999 as Clasen Family Dental and has seen generations of patients at its Woodbury location at Valley Creek and Woodlane Drive. In 2021, Dr. Erik took over the clinic from Dr. Julie and Dr. Marty Clasen who remain a regular presence around the office. At Aurora Dentistry, dentistry goes beyond cleaning and filling teeth. The team feels they have an important role to play in general health. “Our goal is to enrich lives,” Dr. Erik says, “through getting to know you, understanding your needs and desires, and helping you achieve a smile you are proud of.”
Dr. Erik became interested in dentistry after having extensive dental work done in high school. Minnesota-born and raised, he attended dental school at the University of Minnesota and spent years working in private practice, at the Minneapolis VA Healthcare System, and at various community clinics before settling at Aurora Dentistry. He and his wife, a Woodbury native and 3Mer, recently moved from Saint Paul to Woodbury with their young daughter to be closer to the clinic and to become more involved in the community. Dr. Erik is also the President-elect of the Saint Paul District of the Minnesota Dental Association.
When asked what makes Aurora Dentistry unique, Dr. Erik emphasized his investment in making the dental experience more comfortable. From technologies that reduce or eliminate the need for anesthesia, tools that are the quietest available, weighted blankets, and comfortable chairs, every effort has been made at Aurora Dentistry to make it feel like home. “We’re proud of the work we do for our patients, as well as the ways we give back to the community,” Dr. Erik said. Aurora Dentistry provides free and reduced price care to high-need veterans and children in the community in addition to annual support for local charities and a college scholarship fund.
